The Road to Imagination
My Forty-One Day Journey in Verse
James Charles Adams made a deal with the devil when he entered law school. A free thinker immersed in the arts as an undergraduate, he resisted the notion of “thinking like a lawyer” until he realized that concept was a prerequisite to being a lawyer. Years later, when he set out to write his first novel, the devil came to collect on that deal by blocking his imagination. Adams knew it would take a mighty struggle to break the spell, but devised a cunning plan to restore his creativity, challenging himself to write one poem a day until the devil walked away shaking his head. Adams departed the Crossroads on the Road to Imagination without looking back.
